I believe that, although we usually don't have a choice about whether pain comes into our lives and our relationships, we do have the ability to choose whether it becomes "stuck pain" or "growing pain." For over 30 years, I have been helping clients learn how to use the pain that comes into their lives to grow into happier, more mature, more alive human beings. From this place they can also create healthier, more deeply loving relationships.

As the granddaughter of a suffragette, I have always been interested in women's wisdom and women's needs. Especially in the last ten years, I have been focusing on understanding the differential issues women and men face in relationships and how to help them meet these challenges. I have written several articles on these topics. (Click here to see our collection of articles).

My Training and Experience

I received my Master's Degree in Counseling from Arizona State University in 1971. I subsequently worked as a therapist with adults, children and families for the Northwest Denver Community Mental Center for ten years. In 1981, I entered full-time private practice. I received my Doctorate in Professional Psychology (Psy.D.) in 1984 from the University of Denver.

In addition to my academic training, I have received extensive training in Transactional Analysis/Corrective Parenting and am certified as an Advanced Clinician and as a Workshop Presenter in Imago Relationship Therapy for couples and singles. I have also completed an intensive training program in Relational Empowerment Therapy with Terrence Real, LCSW.
